Ultherapy
This treatmenty uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness by creating an injury in the deepest skin layers.
Lift and tighten skin naturally—without surgery or downtime.
Ultherapy is an ultrasound energy-based treatment that is FDA-indicated to lift and tighten skin and supporting tissues. Ultherapy goes deeper than many other treatments to reach the lower layers of skin and supportive tissues that must tighten to provide long-lasting change. The ultrasound energy is delivered from above the surface of the skin to the underlying layers via imaging (just like an ultrasound view of a pregnant woman’s belly), so we know exactly where the energy is going. Ultimately, the ultrasound energy creates an injury to stimulate new collagen and elastin production in the deepest skin layers. Ultherapy is used to correct and prevent skin sagging and loosening and to achieve a subtle, natural-looking lift without surgery or lengthy recovery.

Ultherapy FAQs
On the day of treatment, our aesthetician will mark the areas to be treated and get you comfortable and set up with nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas. She will apply ultrasound gel to the skin for the probe to glide along during treatment. As she passes the probe along the skin, she will visualize the tissue on the screen and then deliver the energy. After she treats one area, she’ll move on to the next, a few millimeters at a time to ensure that the entire area is treated. It feels like a little zap of static electricity under the skin.
Ultherapy is FDA-cleared to lift and tighten skin in several areas, including:
- Brow
- Under the chin
- Neck
- Décolletage (upper chest)
It is commonly chosen by patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want a non-surgical alternative to a facelift.
Ultherapy is generally best for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who are beginning to notice loose skin but are not ready for surgery. Dr. Johnson will evaluate your skin and determine whether Ultherapy or another treatment is most appropriate for your goals.
Patients may experience brief sensations of warmth, tingling, or discomfort as the ultrasound energy is delivered beneath the skin. The level of discomfort varies by individual, and Dr. Johnson will discuss ways to maximize your comfort during treatment.
Many patients achieve their desired results with a single treatment. Depending on your skin condition, age, and long-term goals, additional treatments or maintenance sessions may be recommended.
Because Ultherapy stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, results develop gradually. Some patients notice subtle improvement within a few weeks, while optimal lifting and tightening typically become more noticeable over two to three months and may continue to improve for up to six months.
Ultherapy requires little to no downtime. Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or tingling may occur after treatment, but most patients return to normal activities immediately.
Ultherapy treatments lead to long-lasting results. You do not see results for at least eight to 12 weeks because results come from your body making new collagen and elastin, which takes time. The new collagen and elastin are long-lasting. You will, however, continue to age and lose volume, collagen, and elastin generally, so you will likely want to be treated again, usually in two or three years, depending on how you age, how old you are, and how attentive you are to changes in your skin.

Yes. Ultherapy is often combined with treatments such as dermal fillers, neurotoxins (cosmetic injectables), RF microneedling, laser treatment, or medical-grade skincare to address multiple aspects of facial aging. Dr. Johnson will recommend a customized treatment plan based on your goals.
