If you have combination skin, it can be different on different days or behave differently in different parts of the face. Combination skin is very common, and some days it may need one thing and other days another.
Combination skin can be difficult to treat. We will address the immediate condition of the skin while working to balance and nourish the skin for long-term results. Treatments will include deep cleansing and exfoliating, reducing congestion in the pores, and soothing dehydration. Specialty masks and peels are especially helpful in balancing this skin type and can be incorporated into your treatment.
If you have dry skin, you typically find that you can’t moisturize enough and that you’re always seeking more hydrating and moisturizing products. For all of us, our skin gets drier as we get older (i.e. into our 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s). It’s not uncommon for someone to say, “my skin used to be combination or oily, but now I find that it’s drier or dry”.
For procedures, you want to condition and hydrate dry skin through a variety of targeted exfoliation options to soothe, nourish, and rehydrate the skin. Depending on your skin type and condition, hydration, rejuvenation, and retexturing can be achieved.
If you have oily skin, you typically notice that your skin looks oily throughout the day. You may also feel like you have to use blotting papers during the day to soak up excess oil. Sometimes oily skin can be associated with congestion and acne breakouts, but not always. On the upside, oily skin tends to show fewer signs of aging than drier skin types.
Balance oily skin and avoid congestion in the pores through a deep pore cleanse and exfoliation, followed by steam and extractions, if necessary. The skin will be treated with non-comedogenic ingredients to wick away excess surface oil, revealing fresh, clean skin. Finishing products will include appropriate serums and light hydration.
If you have sensitive skin, many products (or even environmental factors intense like sun or wind) can cause your skin to react–become irritated, rashy, or red. Typically those with sensitive skin are cautious about trying new products and procedures to make sure they agree with their skin.
Redness, inflammation, and sensitivity can all be addressed with treatments tailored to address the delicate nature of this skin type. Antioxidants, nutrients, and plant extracts are used to calm and soothe the skin, while gently removing surface impurities. Some lasers can permanently reduce the inflammation in the skin and improve the appearance.
