Thermi Skin Tightening

Thermi  Smooth Body is a non-invasive radiofrequency based skin treatment that delivers controlled heat to your various layers of skin and tissue. The heating causes the stimulation of new collagen. With each treatment, there is an immediate tightening effect with the heating itself, and a long-lasting effect of stimulating new collagen and elastin supportive tissues. The overall result is tightening and smoothing of the skin in the treated areas. The most commonly treated areas on the body are the arms, legs/thighs, and abdomen.

You’ll have a series (usually 4-6) of treatments that are 2-3 weeks apart. For each Thermi treatment at Steele Dermatology, we’ll apply a warm gel to the area to be treated, and our esthetician will continuously glide the Thermi wand in a circular motion around the area treated. It feels like a warm stone massage. The optimal zone for stimulating new collagen production is actually warm, but not hot, so you’ll be completely comfortable during treatment. You will see an immediate tightening result, which is exciting and a preview of the long term results you will get.

There is no downtime after treatment. Since the tissues that are targeted are in the dermis (slightly below the surface of the skin), the surface of your skin won’t look red, swollen, or otherwise after the procedure. You can proceed with typical daily activities, including exercise immediately after treatment.     

Your skin will continue to age and you will continue to lose collagen as a normal part of aging. Thermi sets the hands of the clock backward, but time will move forward again. You’ll probably want to do some single maintenance treatments after 9 – 12 months to maintain the best results. 

Thermi Tight is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency to tighten loose, sagging, or crepey skin.  It may be performed with liposuction to remove any excess fat (on the abdomen, neck, or other). However, some thin/fit patients may simply have loose, hanging, or crepey skin without any fat to remove.  The result of the Thermi Tight radiofrequency treatment is dramatic skin tightening. Another common use of Thermi Tight is for the treatment of cellulite. Post-treatment you’ll notice tighter, smoother skin.

Dr. Johnson performs Thermi Tight in our office at Steele Dermatology. First, we mark the areas to be treated, then make a small incision to allow the entry of a needle to infuse the numbing solution. Once the area is numb, Dr. Johnson slowly inserts a probe that delivers radiofrequency energy. The probe is slowly passed through the tissue back and forth until the whole area is treated. You will be completely comfortable since the area is numb. Once the treatment is complete, the probe is removed, the small incision area(s) is bandaged and a compression garment is applied, and then you’re ready to go home. 

ThermiVa is a no downtime, non-invasive vaginal tightening and rejuvenation treatment. Over time the vaginal tissues (internal and external) become atrophied (loose) like other areas of the skin and tissue. Time, hormonal changes, and previous childbirth can all contribute to skin loosening in the vaginal canal and the external labia majora and labia minora. Thermi is a radiofrequency based device that delivers energy to the tissues and stimulates new collagen and elastin production, which leads to a tighter, smoother, more youthful vagina. The treatment also leads to improvement in vaginal lubrication, sexual satisfaction, and urinary incontinence (accidental urination).  

On the day of treatment, you’ll lie down on your back on a comfortable treatment bed.  One of our ThermiVa specialists will evaluate the vaginal area and insert the small disposable plastic probe into your vaginal canal. She will move the wand around in a circular motion to make sure that she treats the entire vaginal canal. Once the inside is treated, she will move to the external labia and gently wave the wand over those tissues until the area is completely treated. The treatment will feel warm, but not hot or painful.    

3 treatments are required in total, but you will notice improvement after each treatment.
